Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why do you do lessons in a continuous format?

A: The continuous approach has proven to advance swim skills at a faster pace then the session based lessons, largely due to the fact that children in continuous lessons learn and retain skills faster than children who have breaks between session. Continuous swim lessons also provide a consistent day and time for your lesson. You no longer need to register every four or eight weeks, or worry about which class your child will be assigned. Once you’ve selected your day and time, you keep this schedule until you choose to make a change.

Q: When can I sign up for lessons?

A: Anytime! Once the season starts, you can start at any time. If a class is available we will get you started right away, if not, we will put you on a waiting list until there is an opening.

Q: What level should my child be in?

A: A quick evaluation will answer this question. Prior to a season starting, we offer a free of charge level evaluation. The evaluation process takes approximately 20 minutes to complete and generally takes place on a Saturday one or two weeks prior to the start of the season. If the season has started, call our office and we will set up an evaluation with one of our instructors (free of charge of course).

Q: How do I register for lessons?

A: After your initial evaluation, we will register you on the spot. From then on, you can edit classes online by accessing your personal account. You will also need to fill out some paperwork. Legal stuff, you’ve gotta love it!

Q: How do I withdraw from lessons?

A: This is easy. You send us an e-mail stating that you would like to withdraw your child from lessons, make sure it’s at least 15 days notice, and consider it done.

Q: How do I pay for lessons?

A: You have choices. You can pay by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, Discover), check or cash. You do have to provide a credit card that we keep on file whether you pay by credit card or not. We process credit card payment on the 3rd day of each month and must receive any cash or check payment by the 10th day of each month. If we do not receive payment by the 10th day, we will then process the credit card on file.

Q: How much do lessons cost?

A: Aw, the money question. We offer private, semi-private and group lessons. We offer monthly rates and the prices quoted are one time per week:

  • Private lessons: $140.00/month. Keep in mind that these lessons are 1:1 ratio (student/instructor).
  • Semi-Private lessons: $100.00/month. These lessons are 2:1 ratio and the only time we require a semi-private lesson is for our Starfish 1 students. After this level, we recommend small group (ultimately, it’s your choice).
  • Group lessons: $88.00/month. OK, this is different then most swims schools because we max out at 3 students per instructor in our group lessons. Gone are the days when your child had to share a lesson with 3 other students!

Q: What if I want my child to take lessons two times per week?

A: If you prefer your child take lessons two times per week, we have you covered (for less). If you enroll in two lessons per week, the second lesson in the week is discounted at 20%.

Q: Do you offer multiple children discount?

A: But of course! The first child pays regular price for the first lesson and 20% off the second lesson in the week. The second child receives a 5% discount for the first lesson and 20% for the second lesson in the week. The third child receives a 10% discount for the first lesson and 20% for the second lesson in the week.

Q: How do I change my day/time?

A: We understand that your personal schedule might change as the seasons change. For this reason, you have two options:

  • Give us a call and let us know you need another day and time for lessons. Best-case scenario, we have a day and time open and all is great! Worst-case scenario, we have to work extra hard to accommodate your schedule.
  • Your second option is to access your online account and do it yourself! You can browse through our list of lessons and see if we have anything available. Once you find what you are looking for, just request a transfer and we will respond soon there after.

Q: What if I join in the middle of the month?

A: You will pay a pro-rated amount for the lessons remaining in the month and will start automatic billing the following month.

Q: Do you offer make-up classes?

A: Yes we do! We know that schedules get hectic and we want to help. Every week, you will have opportunities to do make up lessons. Now, to keep our families committed to their schedules, the first make up lesson in a season is free and any additional make up lesson has a charge of $5.00.

Q: Can you guarantee “my favorite” instructor?

A: I wish this could be possible, but it’s not! We do everything that we can to make sure that you are happy with your instructor, and in most cases, we will do what we can to make sure you get your first choice in instructor but this is not always guaranteed. What we do guarantee is that we will do whatever is in your child’s best interest.

Q: What holidays do you observe?

A: We observe the following holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s

Q: Do you cancel lessons due to inclement weather?

A: Yes, but only if there is thunder and lightning.

Q: Do you sell goggles?

A: Yes we do! We sell the best goggles available for students in a swim school. The Costco brand of swim goggle is nice and inexpensive, but they also leak more times then not. Please leave those for the backyard fun and buy into the swim lesson caliber goggles.

Q: Why should students wear swim caps?

A: We are a swim school and want to make sure that students get the most from lessons. When the hair gets in their eyes it tends to become a huge distraction! Swim caps come in pink and black.

Q: Is the pool heated?

A: We make sure to keep our pools heated to 84 degrees year round.
